"I had very lucky to work in recent years on very rewarding projects both in scientific and personal level."

"Success is not the end of the road, it is in your own approach! My friend Gilles said."

Introduction

Computational Optimization and Operational research (OOR)

Dr. Nassirou Lo works to advance the development of practical, scalable models and algorithms for solving a wide range of applications. Core activities include:

  • Modeling - The mathematical representation of  problems is subtle. We use methods that correctly model the flow of ressources, and which scale to handle complex problems.

  • Algorithms - Our central focus is OOR and on dynamic programming.

  • Theory - We analyze the properties of algorithms, including convergence proofs, rate of convergence, bounds, and properties of estimators.

  • Computation - We do extensive testing of algorithms on Tower, which is a 15 node compute system with over 400 threads, including three 64 thread machines, one with 1 terabyte of RAM.

Surrounding the core activities in methodology are laboratories focusing on major areas of application:

  • Transportation and logistics laboratory - Our work in transportation and logistics dates to 1999, and spans fleet management in trucking, rail and air, real-time dispatching, routing and scheduling, and spare parts management, to name a few. Our work has been adopted by a broad cross section of the industry.

  • Health sciences - Projects in health have included drug discovery, blood management, dosage decisions, personal health, and health policy.

I hope you find the material interesting, and perhaps useful. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Latest Projects

eDECISAR: In this project, I modeled and successfully solved a centralized system that provides adequate use of available resources through mathematical models to optimize the coordination and exchange of informations in a multi-agent context search and rescue operations, monitoring, remote sensing, collaborative research targets (path planning). The objective is to optimize the score (or probability of success) of overall team (agents) rather than each agent maximizes its own activities and resources.

Testimonials

“Nassirou is a hard worker and a very big fan of mathematical modeling.

He has a dream in mind, this is the one to make T-OPTLOGIC a company recognized worldwide for these optimization software.

I wish him well. He deserves it.”
